Free screenings assess fall risk

SYCAMORE – Everyone is at risk for falls, especially those who have hazards around them, who are taking medications or who have physical limitations. The majority of falls in older adults occur in the home due to many factors, and serious injuries can result, including hip fractures and head injuries.

One third of people 65 and older fall each year, and half of people 72 and older experience falls. Sadly, almost 50 percent of older adults who sustain a serious injury never fully recover.

Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine in Sycamore is offering free fall risk screenings during October, honoring National Physical Therapy Month. Screenings are private and are 30 minutes long. To schedule an appointment for a screening, call 815-748-8900.
