Local museums win state honors

The Sycamore History Museum and two museums at Northern Illinois University were honored in September by the Illinois Association of Museums. 

The NIU Art Museum and the Sycamore History Museum received certificates of excellence for exhibits. The NIU museum won for its exhibit, “Golden Age of Wordless Novels and Artist Illustrated Books: 1917-1951,” and the Sycamore museum for “Why Sycamore Works.”

The Jack Olson Gallery at NIU received a certificate of superior achievement in the exhibits category for “Inked Tattoo Imagery in Contemporary Art.” The exhibit also received a certificate of excellence under the popular publications category.
