Choir revives musical tradition

SYCAMORE – On Sunday, Dec. 23, the Federated Church choir will once again present the updated version of the Christmas Candlelight Service made popular by Walter Hauswald and the choir from the mid 1940s through the late 1970s.

Originally held at 5 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, the service was revised last year and will be presented during the regular 10 a.m. worship service. The service features a reading of the Christmas story augmented with a candle-lighting segment and various carols and anthems by the choir.

All members of the community are invited to attend this service of worship and music as the congregation prepares for Christmas and the coming of Jesus. The basic Christmas story is still the same and the service is guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit.
