Physical therapy can help cancer patients
DeKALB – Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists recently hosted an in-service discussing physical therapists’ role in oncology.
More than 1.5 million new cancer cases are diagnosed every year. Individuals diagnosed and treated for cancer have many side effects that limit their daily function including fatigue, mobility restrictions, pain, weakness, stress and decreased quality of life.
Physical therapy treatment can be beneficial. Physical therapists can help improve mobility and strength and decrease pain, fatigue, stress and anxiety, and restore quality of life for those who are fighting cancer or are in remission.
