Star Worlds honors first billion-point player
DeKALB – Star Worlds Arcade in DeKalb, which celebrated its 28th anniversary on Jan. 11, will host the 29th annual Tim McVey Day on Saturday, Jan. 26.
This event, first held in Ottumwa, Iowa, the Video Game Capital of the World, honors the first video game player to achieve more than 1 billion points on an arcade video game. McVey holds the Twin Galaxies world record on the video game Nibbler, which he achieved after more than 40 hours of continuous play on one game credit.
Walter Day, founder of Twin Galaxies, an international video game high-score organization, will be on hand Saturday to join in the festivities. Day will also be honored, as he is retiring his referee shirt to pursue his interests in music and literature.
