Tollway cameras offer drivers view of road conditions

The Illinois Tollway has expanded public access to traffic images by adding the feeds from 15 traffic cameras to its website. Drivers can now get a birds-eye view of travel conditions from three cameras along Interstate 90, eight cameras along the Tri-State Tollway, two cameras along Interstate 355 and two cameras along Interstate 88.

"Our goal in posting these images online is to give our customers another valuable source of information to help them manage their travel decisions," Illinois Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur said.

The camera feeds can be accessed on www.illinoistollway.com by clicking "View Traffic Cameras." Customers can then click on the map to zoom in on a section of tollway and click a camera icon to view that location. Images are updated about every five minutes.
