DeKALB – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and City of DeKalb presented the 2012 Business of the Year Award to The Lincoln Inn at the Chamber Annual Meeting Jan. 31.
Also at the meeting, Jackie DiNatale was named the 2012 Ambassador of the Year and Carme Gregory was recognized for 40 years of service as a chamber ambassador.
The Business of the Year Award is given to a DeKalb Chamber member business that demonstrates excellence, ethics and integrity in its business dealings; has a proven track record of sales growth and job creation; is respected by both customers and employees; and actively participates in community programs and/or projects to improve the lives of others. Other businesses nominated for the award were Balcom-Vetillo Design, Bockman’s Auto Care and Fatty’s Pub and Grille.
The Business of the Year Award has been co-sponsored by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and City of DeKalb since 1992. Former recipients are Lehan Drugs (2011), The Foster & Buick Law Group (2010), Schnuck Markets (2009), NB&T (2008), Inboden’s Meat Ltd. (2007), DeKalb Clinic Chartered (2006), SCA Consumer Packaging, now Sonoco Alloyd, (2005), TBC Net Inc. (2004), Ben Gordon Center (2003), Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Northern Rehab & Sports Medicine (2002), Mike Mooney Chrevrolet-Olds-Cadillac (2001), Bill White’s C.A.R. Hospital (2000), Nathan Winston Services (1999), DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest (1998), DeKalb Radio Studios (WLBK/WDEK) (1997), Castle PrinTech and Lehan Drugs (1996), First National Bank and Glidden Campus Florist (1995), Siebrasse Publications (The MidWeek) (1994), Creative Calligraphy (1993) and the Junction Book Store (1992).
The 2013 executive committee and new board members were also announced at the meeting. Mark Smirz will serve as board chair, Steve Braser as vice chair, Kristina Garcia as treasurer, Kim Goyke as secretary, Wendy West-Krauch as past chair, Mark Kerman as corporate CPA, Keith Foster as corporate Counsel and Matt Duffy as executive director. The new board members recognized at the event were DJ Larson of Lehan Drugs, Dave Yanke of LINE-X of Greater Illinois and David Galica of Armor Technologies.
