Celebrating pi ... with pie

SYCAMORE – On Thursday, March 14, the Sycamore Public Library will celebrate Pi Day, honoring both the enigmatic number pi (3.14159...) and the birthday of Albert Einstein (born in 1879).

Members of the public will sample homemade pies and vote for their favorites to win the Tastiest Pie Award. The tasting will run from 5 p.m. until the pie runs out. Voting ends at 5:45 p.m. Pies must be dropped off at the library by 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, with a recipe card or list of ingredients.

A pie eating contest will begin at 4 p.m., with pies donated by the Parkway Restaurant. Contestants must register in advance at the children’s department desk.
