Huntley team bowls over competition

On Saturday, March 9, the Huntley Middle School Scholastic Bowl team swept the competition to take first place at the NCJC Tournament in Rochelle. The team includes eighth graders Paul Un and Evelyn Adams; seventh graders Ben Allen, Lincoln Draper and Chris Allen; and sixth graders Tony Un and Carter Maxwell. The team is coached by Sean Potts and Cynthia Chomicz.

The team was 10-1 heading into the Barrington Invitational on March 16, where they placed third. The team lost only one match in the invitational, and team captain Paul Un received an MVP medal as the top individual scorer. They are now preparing for IESA Regionals on April 24.

At the NCJC Tournament, Huntley defeated teams from Rochelle, Sycamore, Clinton Rosette Middle School in DeKalb and Belvidere. The victory against Belvidere South was particularly sweet, as it was the only team to defeat Huntley during the regular season.
