The Green Club at Clinton Rosette Middle School in DeKalb recently visited the eco- home of Alphonso and Michelle Peluso in Bloomingdale. The Pelusos' home is Illinois’ first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified single family, detached home. The Pelusos are both architects, and attention to detail is evident in the steel, glass and concrete home. Eco-friendly features include low- waste construction, radiant heat, a tankless water heater, recycled-newspaper-and- spray-cell-foam insulation, Energy Star appliances and lights, low-VOC paint and a rain harvesting system. Front row: Maggie Diedrich, Dylan Lewis, Liam Whelan, Asher Lowrey and Charlie Parker. Back row: Lynette French, Taylor Dunaway, Alexandria Pontarelli, Sebastian Lowe, Joseph Rathke and John Murray.
