Chamber selling spots on welcome signs

Published: Tuesday, April 16, 2013 11:22 a.m. CDT

GENOA – Since 1994, the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce businesses have been welcoming people to the city with four strategicaly-placed welcome signs. The signs are located at all four entrances to the city of Genoa; the Illinois Department of Transportation reports approximately 25,000 cars drive by the signs daily.

Each business listed on the signs pays $425 for the year. There are 16 spots available. Last year, the chamber filled the signs without turning anyone away. The new names will be added at the end of May. The signs are sold on a first-come, first-served basis in alphabetical order. Banner Up Signs from Sycamore is helping to create the placards. Members who would like to be included on the signs should contact the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce at 815-784-2212 or genoachamber@gmail.com, or visit www.genoacc.com for an application form.
