Keicher lobbies against life insurance tax

Published: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 10:07 a.m. CST

SYCAMORE – Sycamore insurance agent Jeff Keicher, CLU ChFC CPCU, was asked to attend a special legislative conference held by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. The event brought more than 1,000 influential life insurance agents from across the country to Washington D.C. April 8 and 9 to urge legislators to protect life insurance from taxation.

“Currently a widow receives life insurance proceeds tax free,” Keicher said. “To preserve that protection for widows and widowers is critical. Government shouldn’t collect off someone who planned for the worst and now needs to replace the income of a spouse who has passed.”

The association protects and promotes the role of insurance in financial planning and the role provided by professional agents and advisers. Its mission is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills and promote the ethical conduct of its members.
