More than 40 people attended a soup and chili cook-off March 23 at the Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb. The event was coordinated by Terri Mann-Lamb,
owner of Sunn Flower Gourmet Catering. Nine members of the congregation
entered soups and chilis in the event. The meal was combined with a family game
night. Awards, donated by Nathan Winston, were given in the categories of best
soup, best chili and best overall. The judges were Monika Merryman, a local bread
artisan, and Erwin Wittke, chef at the Holmes Student Center.
