SYCAMORE – Thomas Franks has been appointed the new assistant principal of Sycamore Middle School. Franks’ appointment was confirmed at the May 14 meeting of the Dist. 427 board of education.
In his 14 years with the district, Franks taught fourth and fifth grades at Southeast Elementary and sixth grade at the middle school, where he was named interim assistant principal last October. Franks has also held several roles with the district’s before- and after-school care program, OSCAR, and is currently the OSCAR coordinator.
Franks graduated from Rock Falls High School in Rock Falls, received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University and earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University.
“We are excited to have someone with Thomas’ skills as the middle school assistant principal,” Dist. 427 Superintendent Kathy Countryman said. “His enthusiasm, knowledge of Sycamore and experience make him a great choice for this position. We look forward to continuing to work with Thomas in his new role.”
