The Boy Scouts Tribute to Heroes committee is seeking nominations for its 11th annual Tribute to Heroes event. This year the Scouts will honor up to four heroes for their countless efforts to support DeKalb County. Over the first 10 years of this event, 48 DeKalb County leaders have been recognized.
The Tribute to Heroes Award recognizes members of DeKalb County communities who have exemplary military service or who have unselfishly dedicated themselves to community service and to the welfare and development of youth. Leadership, citizenship and helping others are important qualities that the Boy Scouts of America instills in its youth and looks for in adult leaders. The honorees provide excellent examples of not only these qualities but community responsibility and personal integrity, best typifying the objectives of Scouting.
The event will be held on Oct. 3 at Kishwaukee College Jenkins Conference Center. Heavy appetizers will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will support the DeKalb County Boy Scouts of America.
To nominate a local hero, send the name of the nominee along with their contact information and a short description on why they deserve this honor to Zach Knoch at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 630-797-2622. All nominations are due by July 1.
