SYCAMORE – The Marlyn Majorettes and Majors Drum Corps is looking forward to entertaining parade spectators throughout northern Illinois this summer.

Their first performance was in the 64th Annual Swedish Days Parade on June 23 in Geneva.  On Thursday, July 4, the corps will appear in parades in Kirkland at 11 a.m. and in Mount Morris at 2 p.m.

The Algonquin community and Jaycees invited the corps to march in the 53rd annual Founder’s Day Festival parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27. The festival’s theme is Wild, Wild West. The corps will entertain the people with their flashing batons, high-flying flags, percussion unit and, as a special attraction, a western cowgirl group.

Director Marlyn Burkart and assistant director Rob Barrow will accompany the corps at their summer events.

Free membership, uniforms and equipment is available to girls and boys in this not-for-profit youth organization. Phone 815-895-4166 for information.
