The First United Methodist Church received some welcome help for its summer food program from the DeKalb County Community Foundation. DCCF board member Donna Larson, second from right, presented a check to Connie McCleary, Vicki Boone and Rev. Jonathan Hutchison for the purchase of a commercial refrigerator and a freezer. Last summer, the church served up to 100 free meals a day, Monday through Friday at the corner of Fourth and Oak streets in DeKalb. Anyone who needs a midday meal is welcome to enter the Fourth Street entrance between noon and 2 p.m. from June 12 to Aug. 23. For information, call 815 756-6301 or visit www.firstumc.net. Donations and volunteers are always welcome.
