For the past seven years Oak Crest residents have enjoyed participating in a pen pal program with second graders at Brooks Elementary School in DeKalb. Last year, the program was extended to include another second-grade classroom. Children and Oak Crest residents share their love of storytelling and creative drama. Second grade teachers Carolyn Vaughn and Kim Posega open their classrooms each month, when the children and residents share experiences and laughter. The year-long programs culminate with a field trip to Oak Crest. This year Oak Crest hosted more than 50 students.
