DeKALB – Heritage Woods of DeKalb is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Heritage Woods of DeKalb is managed by BMA Management Ltd., based in Bradley, one of the 25 largest providers of assisted living in the country and the largest provider of affordable assisted living in Illinois.

“We are very happy and proud to be celebrating our anniversary in such a warm and supportive community,” administrator Sylvia McGee said. “Our residents grew up and raised their families in the DeKalb area, and feel very much at home here.”

Eleven residents have lived at Heritage Woods since it opened.

“I’m very happy and well taken-care of,” said Charlotte Wittrup, a retired local teacher who lives at the facility.

“I have a good attitude and I’m very happy,” resident Eleanor Uhlarik added. “I like everything about living here.”

Since opening on June 28, 2008, Heritage Woods has proudly cared for many residents. In celebration, Heritage Woods will host a luau-themed anniversary party for its residents and their families including Polynesian dancers, food and games.

As a way of giving back to the community, Heritage Woods will host a silent auction of baskets filled with goodies and gift cards. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Heritage Woods of DeKalb is accepting applications for future residents. For further information regarding senior living options, contact director of marketing Beth McSkimming at 815-787-6500.
