Springfield brings his ‘human touch’ to Egyptian stage
DeKALB – Grammy-winning singer, actor and best-selling author Rick Springfield will bring his “The End of the World” tour to the Egyptian Theatre stage on Thursday, Oct. 3. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1.
Springfield has sold 25 million albums and had 17 Top-40 hits, including “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “An Affair of the Heart” and “Human Touch.” He received the 1981 Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal for the No. 1 hit single “Jessie’s Girl,” and continues to win over fans with his 2012 Universal Music Enterprises release, “Songs for the End of the World.”
With a career spanning more than 30 years, Springfield’s bond with his audience was the subject of the 2012 documentary “An Affair of the Heart,” which won special jury awards at both the Nashville and Florida Film Festivals. Springfield, who still plays nearly 100 live shows a year, also wrote and recorded a song with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Nirvana and was a featured guest in Grohl’s documentary about Sound City, the fabled San Fernando Valley recording studio.
