SYCAMORE – Sycamore District 427 announced three representatives were selected to participate in the Illinois 40th annual statewide Young Authors Conference. The conference will be held at Illinois State University on May 17.

Olivia Kirby, a second grader from South Prairie Elementary School, Erin Templin, a fifth grader from South Prairie Elementary School, and Pedro Villa, a seventh grader from Sycamore Middle School, will represent the district at the conference.

Many students participated in the program district-wide. Each student that participated received a Certificate of Award at their respective building.

The three students, selected by a team of retired teachers, will have the opportunity to meet with noted children’s authors and have their manuscripts on display at the conference. All three students will receive state certificates.

The Sycamore School District Board of Education honored these students at its March 11 board meeting.
