GENOA – Recently, the Genoa-Kingston Middle School health department received grant money from the Genoa-Kingston Education Foundation and the DeKalb County Community Foundation to fund the CATCH program at Genoa-Kingston for the 2013-14 academic year.

DeKALB – Twelve sixth graders from Clinton Rosette Middle School in DeKalb were recognized and awarded certificates and ribbons from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Sigma Chapter.

SYCAMORE – Thomas Franks has been appointed the new assistant principal of Sycamore Middle School. Franks’ appointment was confirmed at the May 14 meeting of the Dist. 427 board of education.

The local DeKalb County Forty & Eight, Voiture 207 offers two $1,000 scholarships each year to students in the nursing program at Kishwaukee College. Available funds for these scholarships are shrinking, and a fundraising program has been started to maintain them. To donate, mail checks made out to DeKalb County 40&8 Nurse Fund to 40&8, P.O. Box 545, Cortland, IL 60112.
